On May 13, 2023, the world will celebrate World Migratory Bird Day. This year’s theme highlights the importance of water for migratory birds.
Safe Wings Ottawa is planning several events on May 13th to celebrate the day and raise awareness about how the public can help birds in Ottawa
Sandy Hill ECO Fair – Strathcona Park (25 Range Rd) 10:00 – 14:00
Safe Wings will join eco-friendly organizations sharing information about their organizations. There will be lots of fun activities for the kids, and it will be a great way to get in touch with nature on Mother’s Day weekend.
Hintonburg Community Clean Up (1064 Wellington St.)
The Hintonburg Community Centre is conducting a neighbourhood clean-up event on Saturday, May 13 (rain date May 14) at 1064 Wellington Street (between Melrose & Fairmont). Safe Wings has been invited! Stop by from 9:30am to 12:30pm to help out, to have brunch or lunch at some wonderful local restaurants, and to learn from Safe Wings how to make your windows safe for birds! You can also check out the free native plant seeds/seedlings from Ecology Ottawa and information from the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library – maybe a Mother’s Day gift option? No matter what, it will be a lovely start to your weekend on this World Migratory Bird Day!
Wild Bird Care Centre World Migratory Bird Day Event (Walter Baker Park, 100 Charlie Rogers Place)
